My name is Benjamin Nicholas Overgaard and I’m a 28-year-old software & game developer from Aalborg, Denmark. Currently, I work as an IT Consultant at Netcompany, and previously I worked as a programmer and narrative designer on Lightmatter (released on Steam in 2020) at Tunnel Vision Games. I have a Master’s degree (MSc.) in Medialogy from Aalborg University.
I’ve been developing games since I was 17 years old – at game jams, at the University, at companies, and at home. This portfolio is a selection of my best projects. My focus has always been programming, but I’ve naturally also dabbled with the design of applications and games.
Gaming has always been a big part of my life. I started out playing games with my brother on the NES, SNES, and N64. Then my mind exploded when I played Half-Life for the first time at the age of 10. Ever since, I’ve been most excited about games that use storytelling in new and interesting ways such as Thirty Flights of Loving and What Remains of Edith Finch. I also have a deep love for local multiplayer games such as Towerfall and Space Team. But in general, I play a bit of everything.
Other than gaming, movies have always a been a passion for me, and I often find them to be a great source of inspiration for game development in general. As a child, I would watch Terminator 2 up to three times in a row on the same day 🙂
When I’m not developing games or doing any of the above, I’m probably reading comics, hanging out with my girfriend, or working out at the gym.
